How to Make a QR Code for Your Discord Server

Four steps, ten minutes: pull the right invite link, turn it into a code without an account, print it where new members actually stand, and put yourself in a position to change the invite later without touching the paper. The trap most server owners hit first time is the expiry timer on the invite itself — the guide is built around it.

01

Start from the invite, not from a QR tool

Open your server’s settings and create a new invite, then change its two expiring fields before you copy anything: set the expiration to "Never" and leave uses uncapped if you plan to hand the code to more people than a single link is meant for. Copy the discord.gg address. A QR made from a default invite is a countdown printed on paper — the code stays put, the link behind it dies.

02

Turn the link into a code — free, no account

Paste the invite into the instant generator on our Discord QR page: the code appears as you type, drawn in your browser, and you take PNG or SVG with no signup and nothing uploaded. For a plain poster code this is the whole job. Want the code to wear the community’s colors and read as an invitation rather than a black square? Keep it as a card below.

03

Print it where members arrive

The code earns its place wherever people stand with a phone in hand: a stream overlay, a table card at a LAN night or gaming café, a poster at a booth, a business-card run for IRL meetups. Keep the code on a white pad with dark modules — that white-on-dark pairing is the one rule a printed code never negotiates — and size it to the distance people will scan it from.

04

Plan for the invite you will revoke

Invites leak. Somebody pastes the link somewhere you did not mean, and you revoke it — and your printed stack is dead paper. A plain QR cannot follow that change; a card can. Keep the card as the owner of the printed code, revoke the old invite, point the card at the new one, and every copy already on walls and tables keeps working.

Discord QR codes, asked directly

Is the generator free, and do I need an account?

The instant generator is free and needs no account — the code is drawn in your browser and the link is never uploaded anywhere. A card you can re-point after printing is a saved object on this site: the free plan holds up to 10 live cards.

Why does my scanned invite say it is invalid or expired?

Because the invite, not the code, expired. Discord invites carry their own expiry and use caps; a QR is just a picture of the link frozen at print time. Fix the link settings first — "Never" expiry for anything printed — and the code stops being fragile.

Can I see how many people scanned the printed card?

Yes — a URL card counts scans on its own landing, so you can compare a poster run against a table card without guessing which one pulled members.

What if I already printed with an invite that expired?

With a plain QR, reprint. With a card, generate a fresh invite, change where the card points, and the printed codes keep working — the paper never carried the invite itself, only the card that now carries the new one.

Same link, but with the community’s colors and a scannable object you can keep editing: make it a card on the Discord QR code page — free, no signup needed to start.

Invite controls are Discord’s screens and they move between versions — if the settings dialog looks different from what is described, search for "Create Invite" inside your server settings.
